The amount is calculated based on heating capacity at -8 °C, not on the unit’s nominal power. Most contractors write “up to $6,700.” We cross-reference the unit’s AHRI number with the official Hydro-Québec list and include the exact amount in the quote.

Rates verified in August 2026 with Hydro-Québec. Subsidy program amounts change: we revalidate them several times a year, and no amount is presented as guaranteed until the AHRI number of the selected unit is verified.
A refused application is almost always due to one of these points, and four out of five are decided even before installation.
Mandatory since November 26, 2025. No Charmo models are certified, nor is the Airy 24,000 BTU/h.

An indoor or outdoor unit replaced on its own is not eligible.
An indoor unit installed in an uninsulated attic or crawl space is excluded.
The installer’s number must appear on the invoice. Ours is 5840-4443-01.
Two additional exclusions apply: central heat pumps in geothermal homes, and replacements following a breakdown covered by warranty or insurance.
Hydro-Québec publishes an official list of eligible heat pumps, indexed by AHRI number. Each line provides the heating capacity at -8 °C and the corresponding assistance amount.
AHRI numbers for Gree R32 units are found in Dettson brochures. They just need to be cross-referenced with the official list. This matching is done once, then revalidated a few times a year. The result: your quote shows a specific amount, not a range.
Eligible dwellings: houses, condos, multiplexes, and buildings with 19 units or fewer.
