Natural Gas Appliances

Furnaces, water heaters, and connections. Gas requires a license, and that’s a good reason to check your contractor’s license in the public registry.

What We Do

Installation, replacement, and maintenance of natural gas furnaces and water heaters, appliance connections, and verification of vents and safety devices.

The most common setup today is not gas-only: it’s dual-fuel. The heat pump provides heating for most of the season, and the furnace takes over during cold peaks, with automatic switching.

Is Gas Being Banned?

The short answer: not for existing buildings, never in current texts.

The provincial regulation targeting gas in new residential construction was still in project phase in spring 2026. Only the City of Montreal has a regulation in effect, and only for new constructions. The regulation of the Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal, adopted on April 25, 2024, and covering 79 municipalities including Laval, is awaiting ministerial approval: adopted, but not yet in force.

In all scenarios, existing buildings are not affected. Replacing a gas furnace in a built home remains permitted.

Gas requires a license. It can be verified in the public registry in thirty seconds.

Working on a gas installation without a license is illegal. And an invoice without an RBQ license number will cause a grant application to be rejected.

Why the License Matters

Working on a gas installation without a license is illegal, and a poorly done intervention is unforgiving. Our RBQ license number is 5840-4443-01 and can be verified in the public registry of license holders.

It also matters for a more practical reason: an invoice without an RBQ license number will cause a grant application to be rejected.
