Duration of a single-zone installation in most cases
A single zone serves one room: a living room, a master bedroom, a basement office. This is the most common and quickest setup to install.
A multi-zone system connects several indoor units to a single outdoor unit. The number of indoor units depends on the size of this unit: two on the 18,000 BTU/h, two to three on the 24,000, two to four on the 28,400 and 36,000, two to five on the 42,000. When a salesperson advertises “up to five zones” without specifying the model, they are referring to the 42,000 BTU/h.
This is the decision that most impacts actual comfort, and one that is made on-site rather than on a plan. Cold air descends: an indoor unit placed at the top of a staircase often serves a floor better than an indoor unit in each bedroom. A central hallway can cover several rooms if doors remain open.
Outdoors, we look for a load-bearing wall, sufficient clearance for snow, and a pipe route that does not cross the main facade. Wall-mount brackets keep the unit above winter accumulation.
A stone wall is not drilled like vinyl siding, and a well-placed indoor unit often serves a floor better than three poorly distributed indoor units. This is a decision made on-site.

The LogisVert subsidy is deducted, provided the unit is ENERGY STAR certified. We include the exact amount in the quote, calculated from the unit’s AHRI number and its heating capacity at -8 °C.

No Charmo models are ENERGY STAR certified, nor is the Airy 24,000 BTU/h. As of November 26, 2025, this certification is a condition for eligibility for the LogisVert program.
The amount is calculated based on the heating capacity at -8 °C, not the appliance’s nominal power. Most contractors write “up to $6,700.” We cross-reference the appliance’s AHRI number with Hydro-Québec’s official list and enter the exact amount in the quote.

The Airy, Clivia, Freematch, and Flexx series heat down to -30 °C. The Charmo series stops at -25 °C. Southern and central Quebec experience fewer than fifteen days per winter below -20 °C: for the rest of the season, the unit handles the load alone. A backup system takes over during peak times.

Ten years on the compressor and parts, extended to twelve years when the unit is registered with proof of installation. We handle the registration ourselves. The labor warranty is one year.

No. Since November 26, 2025, ENERGY STAR certification is mandatory. No Charmo models are certified, nor is the Airy 24,000 BTU/h. For this capacity, the lost aid far exceeds the price difference with an eligible model.
