Cool a room, a floor, or an entire building. Today, the unit that cools is almost always the one that heats: that’s what changes the calculation.

Minimum cooling BTU/h to be eligible for LogisVert
Relative humidity recommended by Health Canada
Lifespan of a maintained unit
An air conditioner only cools. A heat pump does both, for a price difference that pays for itself on the heating bill starting in the first cold season. At equal capacity, there aren’t many situations left where an air conditioner alone makes sense.
There is still one case where it is logical: a space where heating is already provided by other means and where the unit will only be used for a few weeks a year.
Upper floors accumulate heat: that’s almost always where the need is strongest. A single head placed at the top of the stairs is often enough, because cold air naturally descends to the rooms below.
In condos and plexes, the location of the outdoor unit becomes the main constraint: balcony, party wall, regulatory clearance, noise transmission to the structure. Mounting on anti-vibration feet solves a good part of the problem.
It reaches the setpoint, stops, restarts, and never gives the air time to lose its moisture. The room becomes cold and clammy, and the compressor wears out.
Oversizing an air conditioning unit is a frequent mistake. The unit reaches the setpoint too quickly, stops, restarts, and never has time to remove humidity from the air. The result: a cold, clammy room and a compressor that wears out.
We calculate the load on-site rather than applying a rule of thumb. For the rebate, note the threshold: under 12,000 BTU/h in cooling mode on the outdoor unit, the application will be refused.
R-32 refrigerant, A2L leak detection sensor included, factory-installed Wi-Fi, variable-speed compressor, and self-diagnostics across the entire series.

No Charmo models are ENERGY STAR certified, nor is the Airy 24,000 BTU/h. As of November 26, 2025, this certification is a condition for eligibility for the LogisVert program.
The amount is calculated based on the heating capacity at -8 °C, not the appliance’s nominal power. Most contractors write “up to $6,700.” We cross-reference the appliance’s AHRI number with Hydro-Québec’s official list and enter the exact amount in the quote.
Scale verified in August 2026. The program is evolving: consult Hydro-Québec’s official page.
$50 per 1,000 BTU/h increment at -8 °C — ENERGY STAR certified appliance
$120 per 1,000 BTU/h increment at -8 °C — cold climate type appliance
$6,700 basic assistance ceiling
+5% bonus for multiple measures
The indoor unit of a variable-speed device remains discreet under normal operation. The noise mainly comes from the outdoor unit and its support: mounting on anti-vibration feet, away from a bedroom or a party wall, makes all the difference.
Yes, that is a single-zone setup. It is also the cheapest and fastest to install.
Not for a standard residential installation. Some municipalities regulate the position of the outdoor unit and noise levels at the property line: we check this before fixing the location.
Only heat pumps qualify, and only if they are ENERGY STAR certified. A pure air conditioner is not eligible.
We’ll come to you, take measurements, and explain what works best and why. Then, you decide.
