A mini-split recycles the air in the room. It doesn’t renew it. The Clivia range is the only one of the five to offer an optional fresh air kit, which introduces outside air through the unit itself. In a closed room, a finished basement, or a space without an air supply, this option changes the nature of the service provided.
An airtight house no longer renews itself. CO₂, humidity, and volatile organic compounds build up, and no ordinary air conditioning unit changes that: it cools and dehumidifies the same air, in a loop.
The Clivia fresh air kit does not replace a full air exchanger for an entire house, and we won’t present it that way. It meets a specific need: a room or space where outside air is required without building a duct network. For overall treatment, see indoor air quality.
| Nominal Capacity | SEER2 | HSPF2 | Energy Star |
|---|---|---|---|
| 9,100 BTU/h | 26.0 | 10.4 | Yes |
| 12,000 BTU/h | 24.5 | 9.5 | Yes |
| 18,000 BTU/h | 24.5 | 9.0 | Yes |
| 22,000 BTU/h | 23.5 | 9.0 | Yes |
The entire range is Energy Star certified, including the largest model—which isn’t the case for the Airy range. When program eligibility is a deciding factor, this is a concrete advantage.
Heating from −30°C to 30°C, cooling from −29°C to 50°C, maximum line length of 40 meters. Dehumidification, self-cleaning, self-diagnosis, automatic voltage adaptation, A2L sensor, and Wi-Fi are included from the factory.
The fresh air kit is added to the unit and must be planned during the layout: it dictates the drilling and routing. This is a decision to make before installation, not after.

No. It introduces outside air into the room being served. An air exchanger treats the entire house and recovers heat from the exhausted air. The two meet different needs.
It dictates the drilling and routing, so it must be planned during the layout phase. Adding the option later means redoing part of the installation.
Yes, all four capacities are certified according to the manufacturer’s spec sheet.
We’ll come to you, take measurements, and explain what works best and why. Then, you decide.
