Charmo R32: high capacity at a fair price

The Charmo line goes higher than other Gree mini-splits: 36,000 BTU nominal heating capacity, compared to 24,000 for the Airy and Clivia lines. It also comes in a 115 V version, and ENERGY STAR certification covers all six capacities. Its limit is elsewhere: it heats down to −25°C, five degrees less than the other lines.

Certified for all six capacities, but heating stops sooner

On the updated Charmo R32 spec sheet, the ENERGY STAR line says yes for all six capacities, from 9,100 to 33,600 BTU in cooling. Eligibility for rebate programs is therefore not an issue there.

It comes down to the heating range. The Charmo goes down to −25°C, while the Airy, Clivia, and Multizone lines hold up to −30°C. In a home where the heat pump must handle the bulk of winter heating, five degrees change the number of hours where the backup takes over. In a home that keeps a furnace, the question is different, and the Charmo becomes the obvious economic choice.

The noise level column deserves attention in tight spaces. At 72 dB(A) measured at the unit, larger models require careful distance and orientation to comply with municipal regulations — 50 dB(A) at the property line in Rosemère and Lorraine, emergence logic in Saint-Eustache.

Ranges and Equipment

Heating from −25 °C to 24 °C, cooling from −18 °C to 50 °C on smaller models and −20 °C to 50 °C on 30,000 and 33,600 BTU models. Refrigerant line up to 40 meters.

The heating range stops five degrees higher than that of the Airy and Clivia lines. In a home where the heat pump must bear a significant portion of winter heating, this is a selection criterion, not a spec sheet detail.

Dehumidification, I-Feel function, self-cleaning, self-diagnosis, low-voltage startup, A2L sensor, and Wi-Fi are factory included.
